Multi-functional furniture that saves on space yet is design led and stylish is hard to come by. However, Urban Living Interiors introduces the Punto Extendable Table that transforms from a coffee table to a dining table for four. Sadly, when we visited the site it loaded incredibly slowly, which was irritating, but it is worth the wait as they have some nice pieces.

For many of us, making the most of the little space we have in urban apartments can be tricky. For this, Urban Living Interiors has the most ingenious piece of furniture in the form of the extendable coffee table that turns into a dining table.

It starts as a coffee table on wheels which you can adjust to the height that you require. Then when you need it to be a dining table, raise it up to full height to seat two people comfortably for dinner. Finally if you are having people over for dinner the top of the table lifts to open to become a large dining table that will seat four.

This stunning table comes with chrome legs and matt white lacquer finish to the table top, but alternative wood finishes are available.

Roderick Fry has designed an extremely stable and easy to mount table for French producer Moaroom.
Pi Table
Pi is a flat-packing table, which helps minimise its carbon footprint during shipping. The table is simply assembled by inserting a tabletop, without any screws or Allen keys. Simply slide in a wooden board and to block the board just reposition the feet on the floor to insure a maximum stability. The trestles can be purchased separately or of course you can just use your own. They say that the simple things are the best and this is simple in the extreme!

Its strength is gained by cross laminating layers in the seat. The methodology used enables a cantelivered surface and robust structure with a series of laminated ‘bridges’ completing the form. The chair is also stackable and without the additional two legs of conventional chairs it can be suspended on a table for easy cleaning.

Don’t despair, save your sofa and become part of the new Make Do & Mend Generation with the innovative new leather recovery patch from MastaPlasta!

Mastaplasta

Mastaplasta

More than 75,000 sofas are thrown away each year by Britons and research published recently by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs showed that an additional 500,000 tonnes of household waste could be saved from landfill by doing more to reuse, repair or find new homes for your old settees and armchairs. MastaPlasta is an inventive new way to save your sofa from scuffs, holes, rips and stains.

Easy, inexpensive and good-looking, the plasta can be attached to any surface, covering a tear in seconds. Incredibly hard-wearing and durable, a MastaPlasta “Band-Aid” is engineered to last and not peel off, making it the ultimate new accessory for those who want to waste less and recycle more, beautifully.

MastaPlasta patches are available in small, medium or large and cost no more than £8.95 each. With the choice of six different designs, rectangular or circular shapes and ivory or brown colourways, there will always be a plasta to suit. For those wishing to hide the rip as discreetly as possible there is the ‘plain stitch‘ design, alternatively why not make a feature out of it and apply a design to suit your personality!

MastaPlastas are suited to PVC and upholstered sofas as well as leather, but their abilities don’t just stop there. Apply to luggage, jackets, handbags, car seats or anywhere for a quick and easy solution to life’s little mishaps or to personalise your belongings.

They are designed and made in England from Axiomhide, a luxury alternative to leather as seen on first-class airplane seats and expensive motor yachts.

Green ChairDenmark’s Anders Gordon has designed the simply named Green Chair although, interestingly, it’s also available in white and orange. I have no idea if the chair’s name changes according to your colour choice! Manufactured in aluminium it’s a lightweight and really quite funky chair that would look great in an office reception or meeting room where you hope that your “sitter” will not hang around for too long as I can’t imagine that it’s the most comfortable of seats. That said, I haven’t actually sat in one, so if anyone knows better do let us know!

While working in the office, we often require a number of gadgets and objects, which often turns the workspace into a muddled place. Providing a solution, Swiss designer Matthias Pugin has devised an innovative office desk that works as a planar board to keep your objects organised and provides a clutter-free workspace.

Cube tableThe ‘Cube’, as the designer calls his design, unlike most other tables is not only a planar board, but it provides different sized colourful cubes that can be used as storage space.

It’s certainly funky, definitely practical in concept, but you may need sunglasses to work!
